Fordsburg Market
If you’re looking for something fun to do on a Saturday evening, a trip to the Fordsburg Market is a must. The food and drinks on offer are the highlight — so go hungry. I love the freshly squeezed fruit juice at the Juice Den (try the vanilla and avo), crunchy puri, or some sweet and syrupy gulab jamun. (The market is on Mint Street, near the corner of Albertina Sisulu Street). Fordsburg Market

Inner city graffiti
The Johannesburg inner city is a huge graffiti and street-art destination, which international tourists are visiting — and locals should too. The art is all over, and is, without a doubt my favourite aspect of the city. Why have a dreary grey city when it could be covered in large-scale, colourful pieces and murals?pastexperiences.co.za

Liliesleaf Farm
It’s difficult to choose my favourite historic site in Johannesburg. But I love Liliesleaf Farm in Rivonia, which was the underground base of the African National Congress and South African Communist Party in the early 1960s. It is a really interactive and fun museum space, which all Jozi residents should visit.

Constitutional Hill
Constitution Hill is also really worth spending some time at, and will keep you busy for a few hours. Be sure to check out the Constitutional Court, Number 4, and the Women’s Prison.

Zoo Lake Swimming Pool
For those of us who don’t have a pool to beat the summer heat this is a must for the holiday season. It's very quiet over December. zoolakeswimmingpool

Father Coffee
Father Coffee in Rosebank is the best place to grab a delicious, ice cold, cold brew. It’s made with Konga Natural from Yirgacheffe in Ethiopia, and is bright, fruity, and will definitely quench your summer thirst. Buy a few for home and add a dash to your next gin and tonic — it’s a game changer. fathercoffee.co.za

The Big Mouth
A great, refreshing summer meal to me is sushi, sushi, sushi! The Big Mouth in Nelson Mandela Square is my favourite spot — it has some of the best sushi in Johannesburg. I’m their best customer. thebigmouth.co.za

Koi Restaurant, Sandton
In my opinion, this is the best sushi in Johannesburg! Whenever I get a craving, I always head here for my two favourites: the Rock Shrimp Tempura and the Rainbow Reloaded. koirest.co.za

Black Horse
I love riding my motorbike on a Sunday morning — I get together with friends and we ride out to Magaliesburg for breakfast at a popular bikers’ spot called Black Horse. It has the most beautiful views!

Flames Restaurant at Four Seasons Hotel The Westcliff
This is my favourite place to go for sundowners. It’s tucked away in the leafy suburb of Westcliff, and has such a relaxed atmosphere, with an amazing view of Johannesburg. flamesrestaurant.co.za
