Within days of opening there is already a buzz about Pure, the new lifestyle gallery in Plett’s Lookout Centre. Positioned next to the resort’s cult bakery, Le Fournil, the cool grey space is attracting architects, designers and those with an eye for style. “We want the space to be part gallery, part sanctuary,” says Stephanie Viljoen, who along with Anita Bodenstein-Booyens owns and curates the store.

Central to this curation is Trousseau linen, made by Viljoen’s mom, in subtle hues of grey, black and natural white, complemented by a range of luxurious Cape Mohair. Other hard-to-find, superlative products include the tan range Vita Liberata, which counts Gwyneth Paltrow and Kirsten Dunst as fans, and the Lula & Marula natural skincare range. There’s also a small organic cotton range for kids, and rumour has it Cheryl Arthur (of Hip Hop fame) is to debut an exclusive teenage range.

Bodenstein-Booyens’s oversized realist paintings frame the living space while interior stylist Laura Chatz has created a striking concrete mural. Viljoen sums it up: “Our ranges are very much about unique, well-sourced, organic products that have a luxury edge.”
