“I am Josie Borain”, a solo exhibition by Cape Town-based artist Josie Borain opened at the Hazard Gallery in Maboneng, Johannesburg last night (Thursday 6 October).

Josie Borain was officially recognised as the first South African supermodel after securing dozens of international campaigns during her time in Paris and New York. By the end of her impressive fifteen year modelling career she had worked with the worlds biggest icons in the fashion industry such as Bruce Webber, Ralph Lauren, Steven Meisel, Calvin Klein, Irving Penn and Richard Avedon.

Borain is now a leading photographer with over twenty years experience shooting portraits, self-portraits and reportage. Her work continues to be published worldwide for numerous publications such as Italian Elle, Interview Magazine, Photo Magazine and Elle Décor (Italy).

"I am Josie Borain" is Josie Borain's first solo exhibition and features a mix of bold works that document her life as well as exploring media and colour.

5% from all sales generated by the exhibition will be donated to Rhino Tears.
