“This is my first Harley. I've wanted one since I was a pequenino but I kind of grew out of it because the image of the Harley rider was crap," says Jason Lilley, owner of the eponymously named eatery, which is one of the most popular gathering spots in Cape Town. "Now I don’t care about it anymore, it is changing and they bring out some rad designs. It’s my daily commute to my bakery. It’s either this or the Toyota Land Cruiser, but the fuel consumption of a Land Cruiser is freakin’ ridiculous.

“I’ve made so many friends through my bakery on Bree Street. I love pastry. I stuck to that. I like the science behind it. You have to be precise, you have to stick to your recipes. You can’t just muck around. There’s a regimental vibe to it. The only time Cape Town has been exposed to good bread is when I started baking bread here. That’s the truth.”
