Inspired by owner and tea aficionado Jessica Bonin – with her penchant for tea and its intricate heritage – Lady Bonin’s Tea Bar is the take-away nook in support of her tea-leaf blending studio. The narrow space is gorgeous and evocative of Bonin’s travels to the East, including an apothecary-like display shelf. A quaint, pocket-sized courtyard in the back offers seating if one fancies a Zen alfresco retreat away from the bustle of Long Street to enjoy a cuppa. For a richer epicurean experience, embark on a tea tasting, a food and tea pairing or a tea blending course. Bookings essential.

Lady Bonin's Tea Bar offers sublime brew
It’s tea time! Much like gin and craft beer before it, artisanal coffee is enjoying its fair share of the spotlight, but not everyone has a taste for the gleaming dark brew, and to those we present the oldest concocted drink in the world, and still today’s most widely drunk substance after water: tea. Set in Cape Town’s Long Street, this dedicated tea bar offers a sublime array of speciality teas – about 50 – made from organic local leaves as well as tea from Japan, India and China, including the oh-so de rigueur Matcha.
