1. NEW FROM INVERROCHE

The second addition to Inverroche’s wildly successful Creative Collection, No. 2 Coco L’Orange combines saffron, orange blossom, and cacao seeds to create a hand-crafted gin. Smooth and sensual, with a zesty character and a hint of spice, this is a drink made for sharing.

2. WHO’S YOUR PAPA?

Don Papa Rum is a premium, aged, single-island rum created on the foothills of an active volcano in the Philippines. Its newly released Sherry Cask rum has just landed, and is the ultimate gift for a rum connoisseur. Column-distilled and molasses-based, its first four years are spent mellowing in American oak casks that are used to house bourbon. The rum then spends a further 18 months in four different types of sherry casks before being carefully blended together by Don Papa’s master distiller. Smooth and fruity on the nose, the mouth has a full-bodied yet delicate sweetness with notes of plum, dark chocolate, and ripe figs.

3. CAN YOU SAY BRUICHLADDICH?

You’ll have no problem trying after a few tots of its finest. Long revered for its world-class whiskies, the Scottish island of Islay is home to many incredible distilleries. Bruichladdich (pronounced “Brooke-Laddy”) is one of them. Their 10-year-old Port Charlotte is now available in SA. As their ambitious attempt to create the ultimate Islay whisky, it’s a single malt whisky of the highest order. Smoky spices and sea spray on the nose give way to a noticeable delicacy on the palate, leading to a soft, sweet, lingering finish.

4. FLY FIRST CLASS

Selected for Lufthansa First Class, Buitenverwachting’s Hussey’s Vlei Sauvignon Blanc certainly lives up to its estate’s name — “beyond expectation”. The grapes for this wine come from a very special vineyard situated high on the Constantiaberg, and the distinct microclimate there is distilled into every sip. Dry, fresh, and full-bodied too, it’s the perfect glass for summer.
