Summer days mean lighter fabrics, and linen fits the bill. It becomes softer with age, drapes gently, and has either a refined elegance (when worn with a Panama hat and chinos here) or casual relaxation while sipping a 2M when worn somewhere such as here.

Trenery — the Australian cousin of Country Road and Mimco — has a stellar selection of linen shirts and dresses, especially for the onset of the spring season. The fabric breathes and holds its shape, allowing for coolness in the heat of the day, and warmth when the sun goes down.  Apparently the source of this flax fibre is most important and Trenery source it from Normandy, France, where the hot and dry conditions are best for growing.

The brand says on the particular harvesting technique: “Harvested flax stalks are left to dry in the field for several weeks, a process which enhances the beauty of the linen fibre; this process is particularly important when developing a unique raw flax colour.”

That, of course, is that lovely, washed out, natural hue we have come to associate with linen, and this apparently changes slightly from harvest to harvest.

In its menswear collection, Trenery has partnered with Baird McNutt Irish Linen and Borghi 1819 in Italy to transform and tailor the French linen into the finished products.
