When asked for a show of hands of how many of us turn our sad thoughts on the state of the world into actual actions of change, we're guaranteed the count is going to be abysmal.

Dutch national Floor Nagler, however, felt that the problems were too big to ignore. While watching the news on the refugee crisis she decided to focus not on what she couldn’t do, but on what she could do. So she traveled to Lesvos to help boat refugees and made a plan to turn discarded boats into backpacks.

Together with her friend they designed a bag that refugees could make themselves, with simple tools, without electricity and within 1 hour.

If you are traveling to Milan in April stop by the Dutch Pavilion at this year's Salone del Mobile (4-9 April, 2017) to see the No Mad Makers backpack project among other Dutch design products at the Masterly's Small Courtyard.
