Taking place from February to June 2018, the Trenery Guild is a collaborative project that partners the quality clothing brand Trenery with some of South Africa's leading artists, artisans and craftspeople.

For each month, a creative has been asked to interpret the Trenery anchors of authentic fabrication, unique print, superior 100% knitwear and expert tailoring through a specially commissioned artwork or unique in-store activation. These include gallery-style exhibitions, a tea-making demonstration, niche scent journeys and a gin tasting.

The collaborations begin with an installation by textile artist Pierre Fouché, who worked in collaboration with fellow artist Pierre Le Riche to create a work that distils the essence of textile fabrication.

Fouché finds common ground with Trenery’s design process, noting that every garment must start with a single thread – much in the same way his elaborate installations begin.

The simple, modern colour palette of navy, pink and grey references Trenery/Edit, a curated collection of fashion-focused silhouettes defined by beautiful fabrications, bolder shapes and clean, modern lines now available in store.

“I’m so proud of the Trenery Guild,” says Trenery head of design Jane Grimme. “Collaborating with these outstanding creatives provides a new perspective on our brand and adds a local South African voice. Working with these artisans is so aligned with our own values of creating beautiful quality garments and accessories that are made to last.”

The Fouché and Le Riche installation will be displayed in the V&A store window for four weeks after launching on February 15.

A limited-edition gift with purchase will also be available for customers alongside the activations at standalone Trenery stores nationwide. For more information, visit trenery.co.za/treneryguild.
